Prophet Basketball
Prophet Basketball is centered on the idea of teaching good basketball. It's not about coaching or playing, but it is about learning. You must learn. Stop being robots and learn the game. That is what we are about. This is why we only play man-to man defense and motion offense. We teach zone principles because you will face it. Plus, it's part of the game, but we do not believe in playing those defenses as a priority.
Our focus is on pressure defense. "Prophet heat" is a phrases known across the country. We want to control the pace of the game by applying pressure defense and utilizing our strengths in terms of intelligence and athleticism to stop the opponent from scoring. We teach several different presses, and traps, but sitting down and guarding your man is our basic tent. Rebounding position, boxing out, and outletting are stressed from the defensive end keeping in tune with our attempt to make offense from defense.
Offensively, the key is screening, cutting, and harmonious movement without the ball (this means your movement must be predicated on something). Offensive rebounding position also determines strong opportunity for rebounds. We also teach recognizing mismatches and attacking opponents when they are in foul trouble - all good basketball. Against the zone, we teach penetrate the gap and get good ball movement. We also like to overload the zone, creating scoring opportunities for both post and premiere players.
As far as specialty areas, we teach out of bounds plays, odd/even press breakers, free throw rebounding plays, and knowledge of the referee's duties. Again, Prophet Basketball is based on good basketball. Each participant must learn what that is. Every participant will learn the language of the game and come to know the importance of playing good basketball. Prophet Basketball. |
